Aries Moon Sign Food Profile
If Aries is the Moon sign for you or someone you care for, here are some observations to help you understand the food patterns typical of this sign and, if need be, to modify or optimize them. If these descriptions don’t seem to fit, the answer may be in aspects (angles) other planets form to the Moon in the birth chart. For more details on aspects, see the explanation at the end of this article.
EATING PATTERNS FOR MOON IN ARIES:
Having little patience with domestic routines, the typical Moon in Aries eats whatever is expedient, especially anything that can be thrown together in ten to fifteen minutes. You may turn the fire up high to rush through the cooking process, then burn your pots in the process. Thus fast food, takeout or frozen dinners have their appeal for this fast-moving Moon sign — anything that doesn’t slow you down in getting to preferred activities. Chronically in a rush, you eat too fast and may eat too much because the appestat doesn’t have time to kick in and signal that you are full.
Often labeled rash, you may also eat impulsively, not taking time to think it through or count fat and calories. If you are among the athletically-inclined Aries crew, however, your bountiful energy and enthusiasm can have you burning off any excess before it mounts up to a problem. When you are on fire with a project, you may forget to eat. Like other fire signs, Aries Moons can love hot, spicy foods like jalapeno peppers or garlic. Bland simply doesn’t cut it for you.
WHAT MOM TAUGHT YOU:
The Moon sign describes some of the character traits of your mother or other women who took care of you as a child. Particularly, it spells out the food habits and tastes learned at the family table that may either help or hinder in the perennial search for fitness. Typical Aries Moons did not exactly have an affectionate, traditional, cookie baking mother, but rather the strong, assertive type of woman. She had little patience with housework, including cooking, and children’s needs may have made her irritable.
With her as a model, you may well have learned to be independent and to fill your own needs as quickly as possible, the less said about them the better. This is where the fast, rather impulsive approach to mealtimes arises. You may find it hard to take your own need for nurturance seriously and thus to take the time to prepare things that would be good for you.
WHAT YOU’RE REALLY EATING ABOUT:
Aries Moons can be rather impatient, and frustration can be a significant trigger for overeating. You want what you want when you want it, and the waiting game is not part of your nature. Food is there right now, and with your trusty microwave, you don’t even have to wait long, so it’s instant appeasement.
You might also eat when you’re angry but can’t do anything about the feeling. You can even be rather irritable by nature, so managing your anger by finding other ways besides eating to deal with it is important. Finally, Aries are action-oriented, and when circumstances block you from taking action — when you’re just sitting around spinning your wheels rather than progressing with enthusiasm or that project you have in mind — you may eat to fill up the down time.
WHAT WOULD SATISFY YOU:
Learn to deal with anger, frustration and sheer antsiness with physical activity, even taking a brisk walk or working out, rather than going immediately to the food. Ruled by Mars, many Aries types find the martial arts a satisfying way to decompress from job or life situations that are too slow-moving and cerebral.
If your good buddy or mate can learn to listen to you rant and rave without finding it threatening, you can also learn to vocalize what you are feeling rather than stuffing it down. (If nothing else, find a chat room where you can vent with a partner who has a similar accumulation of things to get off their chest.) Finally, let’s face it, many of you are passionate, and finding the right sexual outlet can relieve tension and burn off some of that excess energy.
