The Astrology Of Cameron Hooker – Scorpio Gone Wild
With recent news items about men who kept their own daughters as sex slaves, I began contemplating the psychology of crimes like these, where victims experience indescribable horror for years at the hands of a sadistic maniac, and live to tell the tale. Lois Rodden’s Astro Data V recently arrived in my mailbox, so I consulted the text, combing through it for similar cases. When I read about Cameron Hooker, who, along with his wife, abducted and enslaved a young woman and kept her imprisoned for seven years, I couldn’t take my eyes off his chart.

Hooker’s sun in Scorpio sits at the end of his jam-packed first house, but it might as well be alone, because it is unaspected. Not even a quintile, semi-square, or sesquiquadrate is present. An unaspected sun is extremely individualistic, often living life by its own rules, totally unconcerned with society’s values, and with the sun in mutual reception to Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto in Leo, he was arrogant enough to believe he could get away with the kidnapping, rape, and years-long torture of a young woman.
But unlike many human monsters, Hooker didn’t act alone. His wife/victim/accomplice, Janice Hooker, quietly harbored the secret of the woman sleeping in a wooden box under her bed. Hooker’s debilitated Mars in Libra slumbers in the 12th house of secrets and prisons, an indication that the kidnapping was a collaborative effort between a man and his wife. With first house planets Venus-Neptune-moon in partnership-loving Libra, Janice probably assisted her husband to save herself from certain torture.
Mars rules Hooker’s descendant, and Janice undoubtedly knew what it was like being locked away to be used for sadistic sex and violence. Venus-Neptune-moon all square Uranus (ruler of his fifth house), hinting at Hooker’s shocking, disturbing feelings about women.
With no earth planets in Hooker’s chart, there was very little that could keep him grounded, and I suspect he lived in a twisted fantasy world of his own making. His chart has no oppositions, meaning he couldn’t easily see someone else’s point of view—and with that loaded first house and rogue Scorpio, he didn’t want to. Keeping his own personal sex slave for seven years meant he didn’t need to care about anyone but himself, his needs, his desires, his sick fantasies.
