Saturn-ruled Capricorn, also known as the Goat, is the third earth sign of the zodiac. Caps born on the cusp of Sagittarius may be more expansive and outgoing, and Caps born on the cusp of Aquarius may be more open-minded.
Capricorns are a smart, tough bunch. They know who they are, they know what they want out of life, and they’ll work hard to get it. They’ve got the self-discipline to chart a path and stay on it, and it’s not just some random path.
They’re very ambitious people. These Goats like to climb to the top of the mountain and stay there.
They’re a practical lot. Without any outside distractions, their jobs will always come first. That being said, a typical Capricorn is reliable and steady and will do what they need to do.
If they seem a bit serious, it’s because they are serious. Sure, they’ve got emotions just like anyone else, but a Capricorn loathes looking bad in public. They really do care what the neighbors think, so they’re very self-controlled and keep things under control and under wraps. They’re great worriers, and don’t need any negative public opinion to make them worry more. They tend to be on the gloomy side.
A crankier type of Capricorn can also be rather severe and unpleasant. In fact, they can even be critical and mean, especially if things aren’t going their way.
Because of their insecurities (worrying about what others think), they may be uncomfortable in a romantic setting. They may be too focused on what their mate thinks of them to be able to just relax and enjoy the moment. And of course they’ll choose a mate whom their acquaintances will admire, a mate whom the Goat can “wear”. That mate had better be well turned out and hold themselves to high standards in public. An ideal mate for a Capricorn is someone who can meet those standards on the outside, and provide love and comfort and security on the inside.
Caps aren’t so much jealous as they are conscious of how they appear to others. If their partner is flirting with others and generally humiliating their Goat, that will be sufficient cause for the Goat to walk away, and you can bet they won’t come back.
Generally, earthy Capricorns are most compatible with the other two earth signs, Virgo and Taurus. They’re all pretty much on the same page and understand each other well.
Airy Aquarius can help lighten up a Capricorn mate, and fiery Sagittarius can provide a bit more fun in Cap’s life. Capricorn is also compatible with watery Pisces, who can provide love and warmth and comfort, and watery Scorpio, who is similar in many ways to the Goat, and is very loving and passionate.
Fiery Leos tend to be too outgoing, too dominating, too strong for a Goat’s comfort, and airy Gemini is too much a free spirit. Airy Libra can be too flighty and shallow for the grounded Goat. Watery Cancer can bring a Capricorn down with his or her moods, and fiery Aries can be just too much for Capricorn to handle.
Capricorns are good, solid mates who are good workers and good providers. They’re a very strong-willed sign and can be a bit much to handle, but if you take care of them, they’ll take care of you.
