What Marriage Is From The Standpoint Of Astrology
Are you in love with love? Is marriage already on your mind? Find out what marriage is from the standpoint of the stars.
Marriage And The Astrological Quest For Wholeness
Why do people get married? Is it for sex, for money, for tradition or simply for procreation. In this age where premarital sex seems to be becoming a rule rather than an exception, marriage for sex is definitely out of the question. What is more common these days is marriage for convenience or material gains. But what is more undesirable than all of these are marriages that are consummated with one party who is unsure of himself or herself. Mostly these are individuals who are dictated upon by tradition, by parents, or even by the more dominant partner.
In these instances, the individuals miss the point of getting married. In astrological terms, marriage is about finding wholeness through the presence of a very special person. Marriage is being with someone who will complement one’s talents and who will help us grow as a person in mind, in emotions and in spirit.
THE LIBRA INFERENCE
In astrology, Libra rules over the act of marriage. Libra connotes the need to be with someone else. As humans, we are generally self-centered. As we move through life. We become more mature. We realize our limitations and we get to the realization that we need someone else to make our life complete. Living and being with someone very special becomes a need at certain points in life. This process is universal and everybody experiences it. Though some realizes it at an early age, others act on it at a very late age.
To be married is genuine human state, but the process of getting married requires more thought than what is normally happening. Libra is also connected with choosing. Choosing entails weighing the pros and cons. In this process astrology becomes very helpful because it boils down to stellar compatibility. Generally speaking, those signs that are square with each other can have some problem with compatibility.
THE SQUARED SIGNS
Among the mutable signs, signs square each other can have problems with communication. Gemini is square to Pisces and Virgo. Virgo is square to Gemini and Sagittarius. Sagittarius is square to Virgo and Pisces. If you belong to any of this sign and if you have a partner, whether a romantic partner or marriage partner, belonging to a sign that is square to you, the two of you must always exert an effort to be more open and vocal to each other. Misunderstandings can usually happen. Before marriage there must be an agreement on how to deal with these kinds of misunderstandings.
Among the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) the problem that they may encoutner is the question of power. They must make an effort in giving each other an opportunity to lead. This must be clear to them even before marriage. Aries is square to Cancer and Capricorn. Cancer is square to Aries and Libra. Libra is square to Cancer and Capricorn. Capricorn is square to Aries and Libra.
Among the fixed signs, the problem that they should work on before marriage is the issue of possessiveness and jealousy. Taurus is square to Leo and Scorpio. Leo is square to Taurus and Scorpio. Scorpio is square to Leo and Aquarius. Aquarius is square to Scorpio and Taurus.
Those signs that are square each other may have to consume more time for adjusting to each partner’s personality. More conscious effort must be exerted to understand each other in order to save time, efforts and tears.
THE HARMONIOUS TRINES AND SEXTILES
Those signs that are trine each other tend to be more compatible with each other. Hence the time element needed to achieve wholeness within the relationship will take less time and effort. Signs that are in trine belong to the same group of element.
The water (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) are trine each other, they can be very supportive of each other. The earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) are trine each other.
The earth signs can provide additional practical support to each other. The fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) are trine each other.
The fire signs can share adventure among their own elements. The air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius are also trine each other and among them the flow of ideas can proceed smoothly.
The signs that are sextile each other can also have a very harmonious interplay of personalities. Signs in sextile are between water signs and earth signs and between fire signs and air signs.
THE QUEST FOR MEANING
Of course, this elemental relationship is not absolute because each person can also have several dominant signs. The beauty of astrological teaching simply lies with the concept that nothing happens by chance and it is up to us to find meaning in our experiences and it is our duty to live a meaningful life.
Marriage is one of the best opportunities to make our life meaningful because through it our goals and dreams in life are solidified. The problem however is that most people stop thinking further once they have accepted that marriage will bring them perpetual companionship and that they can have a very convenient life together. Whatever this meaning may be will depend on the destiny of each couple. But certainly this element must never be amiss in marriage. It will actually determine, whether a relationship is going to be successful or not. Among the most meaningful kind of relationship are those that are connected with a life mission.
Two souls who have been put together by nature can do much in fulfilling their destinies. Another meaningful way of looking at a marriage is that the couples can assume responsibility towards the spiritual parenting of a new human being. Bearing and rearing a child and drawing out from him or her the best of what he or she can be both in the spiritual and temporal level can be a couple’s most meaningful sets of acts. There is so much we can give meaning to, if only we will seek.
