A Leo sun in the 6th house conjunct Venus and Pisces rising with Chiron on the Ascendant opposing Pluto, (a challenging generational aspect made more potent by its proximity to the ascendant). Saturn opposing Sun and Neptune in the 8th square Sun and Venus in the 6th. Her Jupiter/Moon conjunction in the 1st and sun venus conjunction in the 6th highlight her success as all the outer planets transits move across her MC and trine her personal planetary conjunctions impacting her career houses (directly or by rulership) in her short lifetime. The Early Days – Modelling
Whitney started touring with her mother in her teenage years, singing in clubs and contributing backing vocals to various artists. 1986 was a significant year for Whitney Houston. At the 1986 Grammy Awards, Houston was nominated for three awards including Album of the Year.[36] She was not eligible for the Best New Artist category due to her previous hit R&B duet recording with Teddy Pendergrass in 1984.[37]
She won her first Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for “Saving All My Love for You”.[38] At the same award show, she performed that Grammy-winning hit; that performance later winning her an Emmy Award for outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.[39]
Houston won seven American Music Awards in total in 1986 and 1987, and an MTV Video Music Award.[40] [41] The album’s popularity would also carry over to the 1987 Grammy Awards when “Greatest Love of All” would receive a Record of the Year nomination. She released her second album entitled Whitney in June 1987. Though it was obvious to many that she was not a one hit wonder, her much-anticipated second album did even better that the first. Love and Addictions
Whitney Houston married in July 1992 as transit Jupiter moved through her 7th house conjunct her 7th house ruler Mercury in its natural sign and in exaltation in Virgo. Transits to the 7th house are significant in showing one to one relationships. It has been reported that this relationship lead to Whitney’s spiral into addiction. Neptune and Uranus conjunct her 11th house south node that year perhaps indicating that she started to associate with a different crowd. (11th house- friends and ideals)

Neptune conjunction to the south node in the 11th and this planets’ association with narcotics and escapism, suggests that this was a time in her life when the people she associated with were perhaps not what they seemed. Her ideals and visions may have been obscured during this time. Transit Neptune and Uranus also squared her natal moon and Jupiter, perhaps bringing a sense of instability, lack of balance, proportion or realism during this time.

By 2001, her addictions had started to take its toll and her skeletal figure drew gasps at Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Special in September 2001. People perhaps became aware at this point that she was in need of dire help. Her interview with Diane Sawyer saw her ‘coming out’ about her drug use in November 2002. When asked about her addictions she said;
“The biggest devil is me; I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy”

Whitney Houston’s well documented journey to Israel in search of deeper meaning in June 2003 coincided with her midlife transits. Her involvement and allegiance with the group coincided with Neptune in the 8th Square her Natal Neptune in the 6th – The 6th house associated with health may have been indicative of her attempt to get to grips with her addictions, perhaps through spiritual endeavours.
Transit Uranus in the 12th house opposed her natal Uranus in the 6th house illustrating what was seen as an alternative way in which she attempted to heal herself. Transit Chiron conjunct her 11th house south node as she moved into a new group of people (11th house) in search of healing -It’s possible that she was surrounded by people who were in touch with their wounds who were also seeking spiritual guidance at this time. It’s possible that she may have felt a strong connection to the people she surrounded herself with through their pains. She is quoted as saying during this time that she was on a spiritual retreat and ‘felt at home’ The media portrayal of the group shrouded the journey in controversy and there were reports of ‘cult like activities being discussed in the media.
Her Continuing Battle
In March 2006 pictures released by a family member hit the headlines which depicted her home filled with drug paraphernalia. That year she starred in a reality TV show about life with her family which showed the singer and her husband acting strangely. Neptune opposed her sun from house 12 – 6. and transit Uranus opposed her Mercury and Pluto, perhaps indicative of the negative and shocking portrayal (Uranus) and communications (Mercury) about her life and relationships (7th house) during that time. Even though the world knew something wasn’t quite right and there were inklings and rumours of excessive drug use – the published images brought the extent of her addiction home. People questioned how a woman with so much talent who appeared to have it all had descended into chaos and self-destruction. Her family intervened and forced her to go to rehab that year.
She divorced her husband in April 2007 after 18 years of marriage. South node conjunct her Pluto/Mercury conjunction in the 7th house signifying the end of a relationship and a Lunar eclipse conjunct her Pluto/Mercury conjunction in the 7th house in March that year , again pointing to an end of a relationship.
Back From the Brink?
After over a decade of reported addiction, Whitney Houston was said to have been on the up again, though it was reported that she had been in rehab last year, she had recently produced a new film and there were talks about further television appearances.
Sad Endings
Rumours abound that prescription drugs were found near the scene of her death, reigniting an ongoing debate regarding the dangers of prescription drugs and their availability. There have been many lives of talented individuals in the limelight abruptly ended in recent years due to overdosing on prescription drugs. Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, Corey Haim and Heath Ledger to name a few.. The exact cause of Whitney’s death remains unknown at this time and toxicology reports are at the present time of writing still in process.
At the time of her death, Whitney Houston had progressed Saturn in the 12th opposition her natal 6th house sun, her health axis being impacted.
A tragic and early death of an indisputably gifted artist, Whitney Houston will go down in history as one of the greatest female vocalists of our time.
