Your Power Zodiac Sign
Discover your Power Zodiac Sign
Pluto is the most distant and slow-moving planet in our Solar System. Discovered in 1930, Pluto takes 248 years to complete one cycle through the zodiac ~ in an elliptical orbit ~ spending between 13 and 32 years in each sign. In November 2008 Pluto moved into Capricorn, where it will remain until 2025.
Pluto’s influence is all about transformation, regeneration and rebirth; but it also rules destruction, death, obsession, kidnapping, coercion and viruses – its adage is “out with the old and in with the new”. The sign in which Pluto falls in your Natal Chart is known as your Power Zodiac Sign. Pluto often turns Retrograde – its retrograde influence having a more powerful effect on a generation than ever.

Pluto in Leo
Between 1937 and 1958 Pluto was direct in Leo and at the beginning of Pluto’s journey through a new sign a world war broke out. The evils of nations or individuals aspiring to world power and dominance were highlighted in a most dramatic way, and the strongly domineering elements of Leo were also witnessed. However, some good emerged: the United Nations formed and the protection of the interests of the majority of people was emphasised.
Another generational effect of Pluto in Leo has been the speedy development of technology. The natural power of leadership to be seen in a typical Leo is heightened when Pluto is in that sign, and if you have your Sun, Moon or Ascendant also in Leo you may have a power complex. Pluto can darken Leo’s positive, fiery qualities, and the personality that can shine so brightly in Leo people may be dimmed.
You are very sensitive (even vulnerable) when it comes to expressing yourself, getting it out. Periods of intense creativity enable you to go through changes and inner growth. This creative intensity is good for music, poetry, art, and such. Sun-sign Taureans, Scorpios and Aquarians born during this period have a tendency towards fanaticism – sometimes benevolently expressed, although it can emerge as obsession. If well directed, the force can be advantageous, motivating the person or those around them. >>More about Pluto in Leo.
Pluto in Virgo
Between 1961 and late 1969 Pluto shared Virgo with Uranus, forming a very potent conjunction that combines the upheaval often instigated by Pluto with Uranus’ desire for sudden change. There was a great deal of student unrest and the values and standards of the older generation were criticised and undermined. You tend to be radical when it comes to self-analysis, which means health care, food, physical well-being, and so on. Serving and caring for yourself and others are primary sources of inner growth and changes. You are sensitive to criticism.
If you have a Virgo Sun, Moon or Ascendant you are in a powerful position to make dynamic change. You possess the power to blast the world to fragments or to rid it of much that is unjust. Pluto can often encourage obsessive tendencies and if such traits are suggested in other areas of the chart, this placing of Pluto will increase the possibility. If you tend to be critical in a particularly harsh way, this may be due to the influence of Pluto.
Pluto in Libra
Pluto occupied Libra from 1971 to 1984 and sexual permissiveness and the relaxation of traditional moral values was a theme during this time. The contraceptive pill brought freedom from the fear of pregnancy for many women, and consequently this was an era when the unfettered pursuit of erotic pleasure seemed a desirable and harmless end in itself.
As far as the personal influence goes, Pluto spices up the somewhat placid temperament of Libra, but also increases the tendency to cause problems just for the fun of solving them. This is particularly the case in emotional partnerships, where the pleasure of reconciliation is considered well worth a few hours of unproductive argument. This argumentative trait occurs when Libra is prominent in the chart. Change and inner growth tend to come through relationships, both friends and lovers. Marriage or union (yoga) will be very intense and not at all superficial. You get to the heart of a relationship each and every time. If Libra is prominent or if Pluto is personalised, in your Natal Chart then possessiveness and jealousy can be problems in intimate relationships. >>More about Pluto in Libra.
Pluto in Scorpio
Pluto occupied Scorpio from 1983 to 1995 and is at home and works energetically from here – so one might expect strong symbols of change to emerge from this placing. Lessons are always learned the hard way through Pluto, and this has been a time in which the world has been forced to take stock of the Earth’s limited resources of food and fuel. Also during this period, the financial implications of Pluto in its own sign have made themselves felt. The desire to make more money and the increasing expansion of world markets are inspired by Pluto. On a personal level, you will make your presence felt as you climb to important positions of power and influence – perhaps in politics and financial institutions, as well as less obvious fields such as fashion and music. You have great intensity and a sense of purpose.
Pluto in Sagittarius
Pluto occupies Sagittarius from 1995 to 2008 and, as Pluto was only discovered in 1930 we can only estimate the possibilities on individuals and humanity in general. In essence, it is a secretive planet that causes inhibition, making it hard for you to unburden yourself, or talk things through. It can also make you extremely intense, possessive and jealous. Sagittarius, on the other hand, is open, independent and freedom loving – so there are obviously conflicting influences. Pluto can have a purging effect, bringing things out into the open and it is possible that it may work in this way from Sagittarius, prompting free and frank exchanges of views without the onset of revolution. Sagittarius has its serious philosophical side, so these views will be wise and sage-like and may contribute beneficially to international conferences and discussions.
