What Your Zodiac Sign Says About Your Creativity

Feeling bah-humbug about work these days? Re-discovering your natural talents and tapping into your innate creative potential is essential to expressing yourself at work — and in life itself.

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Words are your thing, so surround yourself with them — but in a whole new way. Find interesting people to talk to, try reading a different type of book, magazine or blog. Challenge yourself to step outside your communication boxes and try something different. Learning a foreign language could also help you shake up the way you think about words, or try a day of silence and use no words at all to see how this shifts your perspective.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

You need movement to stimulate your creative powers. Since chances are good that you already engage in some type of activity that gets you moving, you’ll need a change in your routine to jumpstart you creatively. Think of something you liked to do as a kid and try it now. Rollerskating? Basketball? Jump rope? Whatever your childhood passion was, indulge it and see what kind of inspiration comes your way.

Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

You love routine, but at times your predictable past-times can make you stagnant. Rather than completely re-vamping them, try to incorporate one new element into your life. If your usual creative outlet is knitting, use a different kind of yarn for your next project. Woodworking your thing? Make something to different scale. Love to cook? Experiment with a spice that you aren’t that familiar with. As long as you stimulate your mind with one new element, you’ll get some juices flowing that can take you in exciting new directions.

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Intuition and emotion guide your creative process, so if you’re feeling uninspired, you may need to clear inner blockages that are keeping you stuck. Having a good cry or letting other negative emotions out can help you to free up your energy and give you a burst of creative power. Watch a tearjerker movie or write down your stream-of-consciousness emotions. Once you get the feelings going, allow them to run their course.
